Slimness addiction – Why do we try to look like models?
Vanessa from Vanessa-May-Photography visited Hamburg again some weeks ago. Do you remember, that we once had shooting together? It is quite a long time ago – when my blog was still a very new newcomer. . (Here you can find the pictures). This time I wanted to create a really nice and special outfit and decided to wear my cropped top. When I took a look at the mirrow in the morning I was pretty happy with my choice, but when I got the pictures back I couldn’t believe my eyes. It felt like I looked so much more chubby than I actually am. Do not get me wrong, I do not think that it is something really bad to be chubby, but I would not wear a cropped top in that situation.
My reaction made me thinking, why do we want to be that slim? Where does this addiction come from? Is it because we want to live healthy? To be honest I don’t think that it is healthy to drink green smoothies all day long or go to the gym everyday. Is this trend pushed by the fashion industry? Some days ago I watched a music video of Beyonce and I think: This woman is sexy! She is curvy, has a great ass, amazing boobs and a fantastic waiste. The fact that actress and singers are often very pretty and sexy is not something new to us, but how often are models really beautiful? Models are clothes hanger, especially runway models, they are not supposed to be curvy or really beautiful, in that case the attention of the audience would not stay on the clothes but on the models. But why do we compare ourselfs to models when it is about sizes and not to music stars? I could name you at least three beautiful ladies who are a little chubby compared to the European and American beauty ideal. Rihanna, Beyonce and Selena Gomez.
So we should think about who we want to be and how we want to look. Rather like a clothes hanger? Or A little bit more chubby with amazing curves? I have to admit: I am happy about my curves and I hope you are as well!
